San Mateo Festival in Oviedo

Every September, Oviedo celebrates its biggest popular festival: San Mateo. Music for all audiences, theatre, food and traditions fill squares and parks for several days. The atmosphere is lived out in the streets, with food stalls and a craft market in Campo San Francisco, dances, and large-format concerts at the La Ería venue (next to the Carlos Tartiere stadium).

Unmissable moments include the Day of the Americas in Asturias, the Fireworks Night, and Bollo Day, when families and friends share the classic bollu preñáu in the city’s parks.

San Mateo 2025 dates

San Mateo 2025 runs from 11 to 22 September (official municipal programme). The big day is Sunday, 21 September (Bollo Day). The local holiday moves to Monday 22 because it falls on a Sunday.

* Public references: Day of the Americas (19/09/2025) and local holiday “Monday after San Mateo” (22/09/2025).
